CALL TO MEETING The Electronic Association of Parliamentarians will hold a special meeting on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 7:30PM Central Time for the purpose of electing permanent officers for a two-year term expiring at the 2019 annual meeting. In accordance with our bylaws and provisos, nominations for the offices of president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer will be made from the floor. All officers must be members of EAP, and the treasurer must be a resident of the United States. To assist in the nomination process, all individuals interested in serving in any capacity may notify the secretary who will submit the name of each individual who meets the eligibility criteria. During the NAP Biennial Convention in Lombard, Illinois, the new association was recognized and the official charter was received by President Pro Tem Weldon Merritt, PRP. "Now that we've received our charter, we'll begin the process of calling our first meeting for the election of officers," Evan Lemoine, PRP, secretary pro tem stated. Details of the upcoming meeting will be posted when available.
On Friday, August 25th, the pro tem officers submitted the application for charter. The association applied with four units -- Young Professionals Parliamentary Practice Unit, E-Grant Unit, Electronic Unit of NAP, and Green Gavel Electronic Unit -- each of whom adopted the bylaws prepared by the joint special committee with a representative from each unit. EAP expects to receive its charter at the upcoming NAP Biennial Convention in Lombard, Illinois being held in September 2017.
On Monday, August 14, the Electronic Unit joined the E-Grant and YP3U in ratifying the proposed governing documents to form EAP. The Green Gavel Unit is expected to ratify the documents by month-end. The Electronic Association of Parliamentarians will become the first electronic association under NAP's bylaws since being allowed back in 2011.
